Start by following the steps Below
- Research the possibilities. Faculty all over campus are eager to introduce you to the world and those programs are listed on this site. But most anything is possible. The Mac Center staff is dedicated to getting you overseas--either on one of our faculty-led programs or through one of our affiliated partners. Come by to discuss your interests, learn how the programs work and hear all of the advantages of studying abroad. Email maccenter@mc.edu to make an appointment.
- Apply for or renew your passport! The processing time for passports can be up to three months. The US State Department recommends renewing your passport well ahead of any planned international travel it is important to know your passport will need to be valid at least six months beyond the dates of your trip. Please plan to provide a copy of your passport to the study abroad office. If you are waiting to receive your passport, please provide a copy of the application as it was submitted.
- Make and appointment to meet with the financial aid officer. Financial aid packages are unique to each student and apply differently to semester, summer and short-term programs. A financial aid officer can tell you how your loans and scholarships might apply to programs you are interested in. Please email financialaid@mc.edu to set an appointment.
- Choose a program. Applications and deadlines are program dependent and the Mac Center will assist you.
- You must make a commitment. A financial deposit is required continue preparations.
- There is still some work to be done. You will meet your fellow travelers, attend orientation, learn how to pack and complete your paperwork. You will be required to register with the US State Department's Smart Travelers Enrollment Program, provide a copy of your passport to the Mac Center and MC Public Safety and will be enrolled in a travel assistance and evacuation insurance program. It is not hard but it will require self discipline. You can do it. Let's go!
