Employer Codes of Conduct
The Office of Career Development adheres to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Professional Conduct for Career Services and Employment Professionals. We ask employers to maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with Career Development staff. This includes meeting deadlines for on-campus interview visits, providing information and data requested to promote a position, providing new hire data and maintaining the confidentiality of student data as outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Alcohol
Alcohol is prohibited on-campus and off-campus during the recruiting process. Mississippi College abides by the NACE Principles of Conduct which states, “serving alcohol should not be part of the recruitment process.” As a Christian institution, holding recruiting events in bars is not endorsed by Mississippi College.
Discrimination and Harassment
We seek to introduce our students to working and learning environments that are free from discrimination and sexual harassment. If students complain about a recruiter or employer’s actions on or off campus, we will seek appropriate investigation of the incident. Mississippi College requires employers to follow Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) practices as outlined by the government.
Third Party Agencies
The Office of Career Development will not post or promote positions for third party agencies or independent recruiters: 1) which do not disclose the specific employer(s) for which they are hiring; and/or 2) those which hold the interested student(s)/alumni responsible for any portion of the recruiter's commission. The Career Development staff reserves the right to make a determination whether or not an individual or agency is considered a third-party recruiter, and whether or not said recruiter's policies fall within the above detailed guidelines. If a third-party agency or individual promotes their position on–campus without contacting the Office of Career Development, we will take the appropriate actions which may result in the agency or recruiter being banned from campus.
