The Master of Science in Mathematics program is designed to prepare students for continued graduate study or a career in private industry, scientific or industrial work.

Earn A Master of Science in Applied Or Theoretical Mathematics from Mississippi College

Develop the knowledge needed to analyze and develop solutions to resolve real-world challenges or enhance current and past theories and applications in mathematics.

The Master of Science in Mathematics program is designed to prepare students for a career in private industry, scientific or industrial work, to deepen the content knowledge of secondary teachers, or for continued graduate study.

Students can choose one of two tracks based upon their particular needs: standard (theoretical) and applied. Those specializing in the applied mathematics track will focus on leveraging mathematical principles and theories for practical application — solving real-world problems in a variety of areas. The standard track focuses on resolving problems within the study of math and building on the current foundation of knowledge in this area. 

  1. All general requirements for admission to the graduate school of Mississippi College must be met.

  2. Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum (or equivalent) of a Mississippi College undergraduate minor in Mathematics. The suitability of courses will be determined by the graduate faculty.

  3. To receive AA educator license a copy of the Class A Standard Educator License from the State of Mississippi must be supplied with your application. Your application cannot be processed without it.
  4. Applicants choosing the Applied Track must possess a proven ability in computer programming and should have coursework that includes at least one course from each of the following areas: 
         Differential Equations
         Linear Algebra
         Probability and Statistics
