The Athletic Administration program is designed specifically for those who wish to work in the administrative areas of athletics either at a college or secondary school.
The M.S. in Athletic Administration program provides students an in-depth knowledge of sports, finance, human resources, legal structures, ethics, leadership, management, and more. Students will have the opportunity to create both successful and financially responsible athletic programs within an educational institution.
Mississippi College understands that people lead busy lives who have to juggle multiple responsibilities. That is why our Athletic Administration Master’s program is offered in the evenings as well as online in order to work with your busy schedule.
This 36 hour master’s degree is designed to be completed over a two-year cycle. The program includes a four hour practicum experience in lieu of a thesis. Students will choose from two concentration options for study.
As a student of the Interscholastic concentration, you will develop leadership skills and an understanding of the concepts of personnel management techniques. Course curriculum also includes Basics of Effective Leadership, Basics of School Finance, Issues and Concepts of Personnel Management, and Legal Structures and Legal Issues.
This concentration includes a combination of online and classroom experiences.
If you choose the Intercollegiate concentration, your course curriculum will include Basic Understandings in HED, Finance in Higher Education, Issues/Concepts of Personnel Management, and Law and Higher Education. This program is offered exclusively online, providing coaches and administrators complete flexibility.
This concentration in Athletic Administration is now offered completely online. Comprehensive examinations at the end of the program must be taken on the Clinton campus.
1. Meet all general requirements for admission to MC Graduate School.
2. GPA: earned baccalaureate from an accredited institution of higher education in Kinesiology, Education, Business, or related fields. Minimum GPA of 2.5 on all UG work or a GPA of 3.0 on last 40 hours.
3. Standardized Tests- GRE (Verbal > 146, Quantitative > 140. or Formula Score > 715;V + Q X GPA) Praxis or NTE = passing score in specialty area or general area. GRE REQUIREMENT IS WAIVED IF UNDERGRADUATE GPA IS 3.0 OR ABOVE.
