The study of Philosophy allows you to explore fundamental questions about who human beings are, what they can know, how they should live, and what it means to say that something is real.
In addition, Philosophy engages in critical thinking about foundational questions related to many disciplines. A key benefit of philosophical study is that it helps you develop skills in identifying and critically evaluating arguments while thinking clearly and independently. These skills can then be used to write analytically as students apply principles of logic and good reasoning in all their intellectual endeavors. No matter what their major is, you can add a Philosophy minor and receive the benefits of exposure to rigorous philosophical thinking. The skills developed in the study of Philosophy serve to complement other majors, whatever they might be.
The philosophy minor requires 18 semester hours consisting of any 6 philosophy courses.
