The National Weather Service in Jackson is forecasting severe weather for much of Mississippi, including central Mississippi, on Friday evening and Saturday, March 14-15. The main threats are the possibility of tornadoes, damaging winds of 60-70 mph, and hail.

While MC is observing Spring Break through Sunday, March 16, please exercise caution and good judgment as it relates to severe weather in your area. MC students and employees on campus during Spring Break and those at home should review weather safety information, identify a safety plan, and be prepared to implement the plan in an emergency. MC Public Safety will be on campus monitoring the situation throughout the weather event.

The safety of our MC students, faculty, and staff is our top priority. Please closely monitor your local media outlets for updated information and observe your local weather forecasts and warnings.

Classes, on-campus activities, and university offices are expected to resume normal operations on Monday, March 17. Any necessary additional weather alerts will be communicated to the MC community through MC Alert.
