Music Events Booked at Mississippi College in Spring 2021
Music lovers of all tastes will have plenty of options during the Spring 2021 concert season at Mississippi College.
Fans of jazz, classical music, the sounds of Broadway, or the MC Singers will find a plethora of events are happening in March and April. The free MC Music Department programs should prove to be crowd-pleasers.
The first major event on March 11 features a Mississippi College Jazz Band concert. The 7:30 p.m. program will be held on the Clinton campus at an outdoor location, the front of the university’s cafeteria.
On March 18, talented students will play trumpets, violins, drums, clarinets, trombones, and other instruments during an MC Symphonic Winds concert. Their show is set for 7:30 p.m. at Anderson Hall on that Thursday.
Mississippi College’s biggest concert of the year is scheduled for April 15. The 50-member MC Choctaw Chorus will team with 35 MC Singers to entertain audiences with Broadway show tunes.
Music professor Mark Nabholz will conduct both groups performing on the steps in front of the B.C. Rogers Student Center. Titled “Broadway on the Steps,” the show will begin at 6 p.m. that Thursday evening.
Another popular event with Clintonians will be the annual Jazz Band on the Brick Streets Spring concert in the city’s Olde Towne business district. Audience members should bring lawn chairs. The show is set for April 23. The Friday evening performance begins at 6 p.m.
Wrapping up the concert season, the MC Singers will perform on April 25 at Provine Chapel. The program in the historic building begins at 3 p.m. that Sunday.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MC Singers won’t travel very far in 2021. Two concerts are being planned in Rankin County. One is set for Wednesday, March 24, at Pearl High School. The second concert in late March is likely to occur at Brandon High.
