Phillip L. McIntosh

Professor McIntosh joined the law faculty in 1991 from private practice with Snellings, Breard, Sartor, Inabnett and Trascher, in Monroe, Louisiana, where he was a firm partner specializing in civil litigation. He earned his B.S., magna cum laude, and J.D. (Order of the Coif, Louisiana Law Review) from Louisiana State University, and his LL.M. from New York University. Professor McIntosh founded and directs the law school’s Civil Law program. He teaches Torts I & II in the first year as well as courses in advanced torts, civil law and comparative law in the upper level. Professor McIntosh founded the study abroad program in France and taught in that program from 2012-2018. He also has taught in the study abroad program in Merida, Mexico. He has been a Visiting Professor of Law at Lille Catholic University, in Lille, France, since 2022.He served the law school as Associate Dean for Academics from 2002-2015, and again from 2017-2019. He served as Associate Dean for Civil Law and Foreign Studies from 2015-2017. He has been a Visiting Professor of Law at Lille Catholic University, in Lille, France, since 2022. His research interests are civil and comparative law and products liability law.
