Professor Angela Dixon joined the faculty of MC Law in the fall of 2021. Professor Dixon’s research interests and scholarly interests coincide. Her scholarly and research interests include: criminal procedure (particularly the criminal justice system), health law, ethics, law and religion, and the various intersections thereof. Her current research focuses on the: State of Emergency or Exigent Circumstance Exception to Deliberate Indifference. She teaches Criminal Procedure, Health Law, and Ethics and Professional Responsibility.

Professor Dixon brought to Mississippi College twelve (12) years combined teaching experience both face-to-face and online, having taught at other institutions: Business Law, Health Law, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Criminal Justice, and Introduction to World Religion.

Her education reflects her scholarly and teaching interests and the values of Mississippi College. Professor Dixon earned her Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude (with honors) from Vanderbilt University, receiving numerous honors and awards. Thereafter, she graduated from Vanderbilt Law School where her honors included the Dean’s List and a Book Award. In subsequent years, she earned a Master of Public Health (MPH), with a specialization in Health Policy and Management (HPM) and a Master of Divinity (MDiv), with a Certificate in Faith and Health, both from Emory University.

Further, she served as a federal judicial law clerk in the Northern District of Georgia (NDGA), where her caseload included both criminal and civil matters in diverse complex litigation, such as police brutality cases, contractual disputes, prison inmate petitions, employment law claims, and record label royalty cases.

Professor Dixon brings experience as a practicing attorney as well. Her professional experience is wide-ranging, spanning from drafting and negotiating multi-million-dollar managed care contracts, drafting legal regulations, advising on regulatory and compliance matters, assessing legislative impact of laws, conducting litigation, and conducting federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) investigations.

Professor Dixon is a member of the State Bar of Georgia where her membership has included participation in the Health Law and Labor and Employment sections.
